After much thought on how I was going to make my garland, I decided to use a cream colored cotton yarn to join them together. I thought about creating a chain in the same red yarn but felt it might take away from the hearts themselves. They are small in size. I just weaved the cream colored yarn through the back of both "humps" at the top of each heart. When the hearts were all on, I hung the garland and then adjusted each heart by sliding them to the left or right until I was happy with how they looked.
I love my new garland. To me, it is perfect. And even though my snowmen are still up in the living room, it is Valentine's Day in the dining room.

Hearts...
I saw this tutorial a couple of days ago and loved the look of these little hearts. So, last night, I took out some red cotton yarn and hooked up a bunch of them. They were so easy and fun to make. My plan is to create heart garland with them. Can't wait to show you...

Dad's Scarf...
I looked at a lot of patterns while trying to decide what scarf to make for my Dad. I wanted something that would be warm and look masculine, and of coarse, most of the patterns are not. I was very happy to find a pattern for the Thermal Scarf on the Lion Brand website. Did you know that you can sign-up for e-mails? The have some really cute patterns for crochet and knitting. The pattern is really easy to follow and works up pretty quickly. I love the look (perfect for a guy) and how warm it keeps you (perfect for the cold weather). I used Caron Simply Soft yarn in Grey Heather. It's a great yarn to work with and comes in a lot of beautiful colors.
It's beautiful out today, warm with blue skies and a slight breeze. It's been very "spring-like" here this week. (I actually spent some time a few days ago outside in the backyard doing a little bit of yard work.) I wish it would cool back down though and feel more like winter again - well, maybe in a few days...
Wishing you a beautiful day...

Scarves...
I made scarves for gifts this Christmas for my Dad and Step-Mom. They live where it gets very cold in the winter (unlike here in Southern California) and I wanted to make them something that would keep them warm. This scarf was for my Step-Mom and was made with Red Heart Soft in Seafoam. This yearn is beautiful to work with and feels great on the skin. My friend Lisa showed me the pattern. The stitch is shell shaped, easy to do and goes very quickly. I love the way the edges scallop.
