Cotton Yarn - Love It...

I love cotton yarn.

When I saw this video in my Lion Brand email the other day I fell in love.

Can't wait to try it out.

Weekend Project...

I love this yarn...

It is so soft and the color is beautiful.

My friend Lisa found a really interesting video tutorial for an infinity scarf (which she has started for herself). It is my weekend project.

I figured, with a three day weekend, I should be able to get it done. (Fingers crossed)

On a side note - I finished reading The Kite Runner. It was fabulous and wonderful - I loved it.
Now, to watch the movie...

Shower Scrubby...

I love to check out the Tangled Happy blog every day. In July of last year, I found this pattern for a flower pillow. Well, the second picture in the post is for a shower scrubby. You just crochet 4 rounds of the pillow pattern and stitch them together. I love this idea and I have been thinking about doing something like this with cotton yarn. I can just throw it in the laundry with the towels to get it clean, which makes me happy.

For the scrubby that I made, I crocheted 4 rounds of the pattern for the front and 5 rounds of double crochet plus a strip of 5 double crochets across - and long enough to fit the hand - to make a "handle" for the back. I used Sugar and Cream yarn in Cream, Robins Egg, Rose Petal and Ecru.

Can't wait to make some more...

New Yarn for a New Blanket...

I am wanting to make a new crocheted blanket. I am thinking granny squares. I have seen so many pretty blankets (or afghans) lately, I really want to make one. I really like how this one looks and this one... I really love the way this blanket looks. Well, I still have time to decide because I want to finish my vintage stripe first. (I will share some updated pictures soon)

For now, I am enjoying my new colors. And, in case you were interested, they are Loops & Threads Impeccable in Aran, True Gray and Rouge. They make me very happy...

Happy Thanksgiving...

It's a beautiful day here. I got to sleep in, which was fabulous. I was also able to relax and drink my "candy" coffee while watching H.R. Pufnstuf. Right now I'm watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The pies are baking in the oven (one cherry and one apple) - they smell so good - and the fruit salad is made and waiting in the fridge. We'll be going to spend time with family very soon.

I have been working on a scarf in my kids high school colors. Soccer season is here and I am going to be prepared to show school spirit for my daughters team.

I hope you are having a blessed Thanksgiving Day...

A Hat and A Yarn...

Yesterday I started a new project - a hat for my daughter. I often check Ravelry  for new crochet patterns - or just to look at what everyone is sharing. {You should sign up if you haven't already, it's free and a wonderful place for crochet or knitting patterns.}

I found several patterns for slouchy hats and really had a hard time choosing. I did find this pattern a few months ago and love the way it looks. The only problem is the band is knitted and my knitting skill level is basic beginner at best. Well, I figured I would start it and either figure out a way to finish it with crochet or beg someone to help me with the knitting part. lol Maybe my friend Penny...

Here is what I have so far...

The yarn I am using is Red Heart Soft in Grape. I found it at Joann's last weekend. I also bought a skein of Seafoam which is much bluer than it looks in my pictures. They are so soft and have a little bit of a sheen to them. I am really enjoying working with them. You should try them for you next project...

Saturday Morning...

What a beautiful morning it was today. My tomato plants are getting so big (I'm happy about that) and the tomatoes are starting to turn red.

I got some beautiful flowers from a little friend at preschool...

I am working on a new crocheted blanket. It's called a ripple. I found the pattern at Attic 24. I am using the yarn I shared with you here. I did buy 2 more colors to go with them.
Last weekend I made a zipper pouch for my crochet hooks and such...
The inside...
And I found this sweater at the thrift store for $1.00. I am going to be using it for a project in the near future.

Been Gone For a While...

I have been gone for a while. My hard drive crashed and I had to take it to get fixed at the Apple store. And because of this, it has taken me a while to get all of my goodies back. My iTunes library, my fonts, my water marks, my software all loaded again. It's like having a new computer, which of coarse is a good thing, but it took a while to get it back the way I wanted it. And I'm not even really there yet.

So, a note to you all - have all of your important things backed up on either disk or an external hard drive. I do this on a regular basis, being a photographer you have to. But a lot of people don't. A hard drive can crash with little warning and there is nothing you can do to prevent it. So, if you have family photos, important documents, videos , etc...

Back Them Up.

And, with that being said and done...

I love the blog Attic 24. Lucy does the most beautiful things with crochet; blankets, pillows and flowers, and she has great pictures from her home in England. She made this cute bag to keep her yarn in and I love it. I have been working on mine, along with two of my friends from work. You can see my friend Penny's bag here. I can't wait until mine is done.

On a side note, my son and his friends found three kittens on the side yard under the shed early this afternoon.

Crochet Baby Hat...

Well, I think my new project turned out pretty good. Not only is this the first time I've followed a crochet pattern but it's also the first hat I've made. Unfortunately, I don't have a baby to model this cute little hat, so I used my daughters bear. Still cute.

I think my Nana would be proud...

New Project...

I have known how to crochet for most of my life. My Nana taught me when I young. I have made things here and there, mostly blankets, for my children and the occasional baby gift.

Well, I'm trying something new and I hope it turns out good. I'll let you know...
