Baby Quilt and Saturday Fun...

Quilting is not something I have done a lot of. In fact, this is only my 3rd quilt project. The first was started many, many years ago (and never finished). The 2nd was the mug rug I made about a month ago. This is the 3rd.

I saw some really cute baby quilts on another blog, bought some fabric, which I have been watching sit on the desktop a while, and decide to start this new project. I know it won't be perfect and I know it won't be technically right, but I am happy with how it's going so far. Here's a peek...

This coming Saturday, the 26th, I am going on a quilters run. I, along with my daughter and my friends Penny and Lupe, am going to drive all over Orange County for the 2011 Spring Fling Hop. Eight OC quilt shops are giving away a free pattern, fat quarter and return coupon for visiting their store and getting your "passport" stamped. There is also a drawing for a grand prize of 40 yards of fabric or a gift basket worth $100.00. I can't wait, I hope one of us wins (fingers crossed).

  4. hi lissy... thanks for the nice comment about my baby quilt. i am going to be posting more pictures of the finished quilt tonight.

a fat quarter is a 1/4 yard of fabric but it is cut in a square. i think they cut a 1/2 yard off the bolt and then open it up and cut it on the fold making a nice square (instead of getting that long thin strip when you get a 1/4 yard cut from the bolt). and the pass port was just a piece of paper that had a spot for each of the 8 participating quilt shops. we went to all 8 shops on saturday (about 100 miles of driving) and then when all the spots were stamped, they put your name in for the grand prize drawing.
