Giant Granny Square...

My large granny square is coming along nicely. This yarn is a bit stiff, especially the white. I'm sure it will soften up with use though.

Memorial Day Monday...

Today is Memorial Day, a time to remember and give thanks to those men and women who have served in the armed forces for our country.

It has been a great weekend with rest and relaxation, time spent with family and friends, a wonderful BBQ and an extra day off from work to enjoy.

Three day weekends are wonderful.

I tried something new - I made liquid hand soap. I think it turned out pretty good and I am happy at the money to be saved because of it. I followed this recipe from The Farmers Nest. She has a great picture tutorial to follow. I made just 1/2 a batch with a bar of Zest. I was able to fill two jugs, like the one in the background of this picture, for about $0.70 - a fabulous deal.

I have also started on the fourth book in the Outlander series...

And hooked up this little fruit cozy. You can find the pattern here on the Michaels website. I made the larger size, but my smallest apple still had a hard time squeezing into it for the pictures - lol.

I hope you are enjoying your day.

Embroidery...

I have been working on this little bit of embroidery. I am still trying to decide what to do with it when it's done. Maybe I'll use it on a small bag or pillow.

Zucchini...

I am amazed at how fast this zucchini plant is growing, and there are flowers starting to grow at the stem.

So excited...

Happy Saturday.

Outer Space - Embroidery Pattern...

This is my second embroidery pattern. Rocket ships are so cool. Wouldn't this look really cute in a little boys room? It fits in a 6 inch embroidery hoop but I think it would also look good on a pillow.

It was really fun stitching this one up. I hope you enjoy it.

Magazine - Finally...

First, let me start with telling you that I have created a facebook page for Love the Blue Bird. So, if you are on facebook, stop by and say Hi.

Second, I really hate ants. Well, outside they are okay. It's when they come inside that I don't care for the little buggers. And a few days ago, because of the warmer weather, they have started to come inside. I am not happy about this...

But, I am happy to have finally received my copy of the Mollie Makes magazine that has my crocheted mason jar cover in it. I feel like my post is "a day late and a dollar short" because the magazine came out a month ago. But, they said they would send me a copy and I didn't want to go and buy one because I would really rather use that $12.00 to buy yarn instead, you know?

My page...

I love these cross stitch tops...

 So happy to see this...

I love buttons...

And this is the cutest thing. Now I wish I had a stool to cover...

I can't tell you how happy I am about my plants. Every evening I go out and water and care for them. They are growing and changing daily. One of my little tomatoes plants doesn't look so good though. I moved the pot to an area where it doesn't get so much sun, hopefully it will do better...

New geranium flowers and my Anaheim Chili...

My zucchini plant. Everyday I look at it, it has new leaves...

These little snails are every where right now. But, they are so cute...

On sunday, I planted some new flowers and some tomatoes, zucchini and anaheim chili. I am very much looking forward to caring for them this summer and reaping the rewards. Yummy yummy.

The red pot here has my hydrangea bush that I have had for a few years. I am hoping it comes around this year...

Happy Mother's Day...

I hope you all have a wonderful Mother's Day. Take some time to enjoy your day and be pampered.

Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her...
Proverbs 31:28

God Bless You.

Granny Square and Flowers...

I don't know what it is lately, but I have very little desire to sit down at my computer. Well, I am gonna blame it on the book - lol. I am more than half way through it now, page 668 out of 1059, so all is good.

I am almost done with my embroidery and will be sharing the pattern with you in the near future.

And, I started a new blanket last night. One large granny square in navy blue and white. And I must say that I am very happy with the results so far. In the past, I have played around with making small granny squares to "get the hang of it" but just wasn't happy with my results. So, I put it away. But last night, I followed this tutorial from Carina's Craft Blog and now, I am very happy.

This past week was Teacher Appreciation week at the school where I work and I was truly blessed by many wonderful families. Two yummy lunches, a breakfast, thank you cards, flowers and little gifts - it has been a fabulous week. And I love flowers. The roses are home grown (from three different families) and are so fragrant and beautiful. The sunflower has been slowly opening and is just lovely.

And, isn't this cute...

The little rose here is from my mom's backyard. It is so tiny and sweet, I love it.

And my husband brought these beautiful strawberries home from the grocery store this morning. What a treat.

Happy Saturday...

A Wonderful Sunday...

I have been enjoying a busy yet productive Sunday. It is beautiful here with sunny skies and a breeze. I have been working on several projects lately. First, I can't seem to put down the third book in the Outlander series and it takes up a lot of my free time...

I have also been drawing a lot this past week for the purpose of embroidery. I have really feel in love with the Wild Olive blog and enjoy reading it every day.

Of coarse, I am still working on my Vintage Stripe blanket...

And I finally finished my pillow. I don't think I ever really told you about it though. It matches my Ripple Blanket...

And I used the sweater I purchased at the thrift store for the back. Funny how it took me almost a year to finally use it.

I got the idea from Lucy's (from Attic24) post about her pillow. You can read about it here...

Also, I am making macaroni salad to have with our BBQ tonight - yum...

I hope you are having a wonderful Sunday.
